The Grieving Place

I think about grief, in its many forms, sizes and complexities. It's a subject often on my mind, whether or not I am grieving at that moment, I know that many people are.
I wanted to create a place where all types of grief can be honoured.

An altar for grief to be placed.

For relationships broken, parents that had to leave, pets who died, bodies that no longer work, regrets that haunt, wilderness lost, animals slaughtered and the endless amount of grief suffered. I wanted there to be a beautiful place to acknowledge and name this grief.

The Grieving Place is not a religious place, just a place of beauty and reverence for one to sit with their grief.

A place to honour grief and maybe even leave some of it behind.

My dream is to create The Grieving Place on a large scale for many people to visit on the single night it exists. Maybe in a Melbourne alley or beside Birrarung Marr (the Yarra River) near Federation Square?
